The annual «Feria Nacional de la Pirotecnia» in Tultepec, Mexico, celebrates the country’s capital of firework production. At the heart of this celebration is the running of the bulls, inspired by Spanish traditions found in Pamplona: Chasing and being chased by Papier-mâché beasts clad in explosives, bathing the audience in a fiery spectacle. The event is a prime example of a machoism culture as well as for traditions based in a colonialism. A dangerous albeit magnificent event where adrenalin and injuries go hand in hand and getting as close as possible to the fire is the key objective.
